Weird Al Yankovic's "Mandatory Fun" Album Cover. After more than 30 years on the charts, comedian-singer "Weird Al" Yankovic earns his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as "Mandatory Fun" debuts atop the list. The album is the first comedy set to top the chart since 1963, and logs the largest sales week for a comedy album since 1994. Mandatory Fun" was released July 15 through Way Moby and RCA Records, and sold 104,000 copies in the week ending July 20, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
From Mr. Yankovic’s impassioned ode to the supremacy of aluminum over inferior forms of food preservation ( Foil ) to his biting satire of LA celebrity worship ( Lame Claim to Fame ) and adroit portrayal of creepy corporate evangelism ( Mission Statement, a style parody reminiscent of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s Suite: Judy Blue Eyes ), Al brings his A-game. Ben Kaye (BK): Did I have fun listening? Of course I did; it’s a Weird Al album! How could you not enjoy a record that includes a polka mash-up of pop smashes?
10. First World Problems. Al is the coolest man ever in music.

Weird" Al Yankovic charted his first No. 1 album as his latest satirical disc, "Mandatory Fun," sold just over 104,000, according to Nielsen/SoundScan. That gave him the win over Jason Mraz, whose new album, "Yes!" sold under 84,000 copies. Yankovic's work is the first comedy disc to hit Billboard's No. 1 spot since Allan Sherman's "My Son, the Nut" all the way back in 1963. Even the notion of it happening nearly caused my head to expode," Yankovic told The News
