Dolly Parton's 1982 album GREATEST HITS is a poor excuse for a greatest hits album. What was RCA thinking? First we only have 9 tracks on here. On the cassette, there are 3 additional songs which do not show up on the CD, which makes no sense. Applejack", "Heartbreak Express" and "Me And Little Andy" fail to make an appearance on the CD. Instead we have 9 songs, which don't even make up 30 minutes of music on this CD. There are some great songs though, like a new version of "I Will Always Love You", and classics like "It's All Wrong.

Dolly Parton made her album debut in 1967 (she'd previously achieved success as a songwriter for others), with her album Hello, Im Dolly. With steady success during the remainder of the 1960s (both as a solo artist, and with a series of duet albums with Porter Wagoner), her sales and chart peak came during the 1970s and continuing into the 1980s; Parton's subsequent albums in the later part of the 1990s were lower in sales. In the beginning, we were the underdogs," Frey once said. With 3,000 songs to her name - including more than 20 Number One country singles -Dolly Parton has enjoyed one of country's most impressive songwriting careers. After scoring R&B hits like "Please Please Please" and recording the greatest live album ever, 1963's Live at the Apollo, James Brown changed the pop songwriting game forever during the Sixties and early Seventies by flipping the script on songform itself, foregrounding his music in tight, tempestuous rhythm to invent what would eventually be known as funk.
