Bobby Keys - Gimmie The Key / Honky Tonk (Parts 1 & 2) mp3 album

BOBBY KEYS: Gimmie The Key, Same 45 (rare promo with longer mix) Funk. Bobby Keys THE ROLLING STONES Signed Autograph Guitar.

Bobby Keys played that solo. If you were one of those sexy people, you have him to thank. But what a lot of people don't know is just how much Keys' hard-playing and hard-living were the product of the West Texas wilderness, where he cut his teeth playing in honky-tonks and bordellos from the age of 14 – and which has produced a roster of musical talent totally disproportionate to its tiny population, from Roy Orbison and Buddy.

Bobby Keys' self-titled debut is a bit of an odd beast. He's got one of the most amazing résumés in rock music as a sideman, so it's no surprise that there's quite a lineup on this album. Horn charts were by Keys' cohort Jim Price (who also played trumpet and keyboards) and the album was produced by Keys, Jim Gordon, and Andy Johns. The horn charts are great and there are some nice solos, particularly on guitar on what was once side two of the album. If you like the sound of the "Apple Jam" LP from All Things Must Pass (which also featured many of the players here), you'll probably like Bobby Keys.

The album charted as a top-ten album in several markets, including reaching number one in the UK and number three in the US. While no highly-charting singles were released from the album, many of the album's songs became staples in Rolling Stones shows and on rock radio stations for decades to come, including two gospel-infused songs "Gimme Shelter" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want", both of which ranked highly on retrospective "best ever" songs lists, including 2004's "500 Greatest. As with the previous album, most of the guitar parts were recorded instead by the band's other guitarist, Keith Richards during the period of principal recording. He also appears on "Honky Tonk Women", a stand-alone single which was recorded during the Let It Bleed sessions.

Robert Henry "Bobby" Keys (December 18, 1943 – December 2, 2014) was an American saxophonist who performed with other musicians as a member of several horn sections of the 1970s. He appears on albums by the Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Harry Nilsson, Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker and other prominent musicians. Keys played on hundreds of recordings and was a touring musician from 1956 until his death in 2014.
