Mickey Leroy Gilley (born March 9, 1936) is an American country music singer and musician. Although he started out singing straight-up country and western material in the 1970s, he moved towards a more pop-friendly sound in the 1980s, bringing him further success on not just the country charts, but the pop charts as well. Paula Records released Gilley's first album, Down the Line, in 1967. He had a minor hit from the album called "Now I Can Live Again". From then on, Gilley was signed to Playboy Records working with his long-time friend Eddie Kilroy. Room Full of Roses" became the song that put Gilley on national radar, hitting the very top of the Country charts that year, as well as making it to No. 50 on the pop music charts.

Mickey Leroy Gilley was born 9th March 1936 in Natchez, Mississippi. Best known as a Country music singer and piano player, he moved to Houston at age 17 and began playing rock n roll in local clubs, cutting "Tell Me Why" and "Oo-ee-baby" for the local Minor label.

Mickey Gilley actually just released his first album in nearly three decades, depending on how you look at it. In 2003, he released Invitation Only, but that album featured unreleased tunes recorded in 1991. Prior to that his last album came in 1989. And many people, including Gilley, seemed content on letting his recording career fade away. Now, that's not to see he stayed out of the limelight. But Gilley just surprised quite a few folks by putting the unannounced album Kickin' It Down The Road. In fact, in a performance of the title track "Kickin' It Down The Road," Gilley says the strength of the song inspired him to do a whole new album. Written by Byron Hill, Mike Kenny and Michael Cosner, "Kickin' It Down The Road" keeps it country. The album features 10 tracks. 10 Things You Didn't Know About Buc-ee's.

The Mickey Gilley song "Doo-Wah Days" was written by Edward Hunnicutt, Doug Gilmore and Gary Vincent. The song was released in July 1986 as the only single from his album "One and Only. Its been more than thirty years since I first listened to the song "Doo-Wah Days. At the time I was living in Texas and watching a Country music channel. I recognized the Gilley voice soon after the music started to play. I had previously been to "Gilley's" Nightclub in the early eighties where he performed live so I needed no introduction to his voice.
