Slint - Spiderland mp3 album

Spiderland is the second and final studio album by American rock band Slint. It was released on March 27, 1991, through Touch and Go Records. Spiderland was Slint’s first release on Touch and Go, and the group’s last record. Spiderland is today one of the most influential indie albums of all time, influencing bands of many genres and areas.

Slint's landmark second album has been reissued in a box set that includes outtakes, live cuts, and a feature-length documentary by Lance Bangs. The record's greatest legacy might be the boundless inspiration it perpetually provides for all the bands that have yet to emerge from the basement. Spiderland-their second, final, and ultimately most revered album-wasn’t some painstaking, Loveless-scaled masterwork belabored over in the studio for months on end; it was a collection of six pared-down basement jams recorded over a single weekend, with many of the lyrics rush-written at the last minute.

If Slint's debut, 1989's Tweez, was one of the earliest salvos in what came to be known as post-rock, their second album, 1991's Spiderland was where the band pushed their most radical ideas forward and created a touchstone, working with dynamics that made the silences every bit as much presence as the guitars and drums, manipulating space and time

Who the fuck is Slint" Why should anyone even care about them" Well, they are four Kentucky natives that practically created the self-proclaimed genre of post-rock and probably the best thing to come from Kentucky as far as music is concerned. Maybe there is a reason to care about Slint and their 1991 masterpiece, Spiderland. Throughout, the verses are generally spoken like the narration of a book or movie. The hypnotizing tone of Brian McMahan is often soft, but the effect it has on the music is irrevocable.

Spiderland is a music studio album recording by SLINT (Prog Related/Progressive Rock) released in 1991 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette.

Reviews about Slint - Spiderland (50):

The initial pressings all included posters. I grew up in Louisville and bought this the week it came out. I do not recall it having a different label from the ones sold from Touch & Go when I interned there in 1996. My guess is Rainbo just ran out of the standard labels for part of a run. The poster was a horizontal image of a spider taken through a microscope by Noel Saltzman. Early pressings of Touch & Go's "Tweez" reissue included the same poster. A separate larger promotional version of the image with text was printed for display in record shops.

$561? That seems like a bit much.At least 10 words must be entered. Please enter at least 3 more.
Gosar
in the “notes” section of this release why doesn’t it mention that some box sets were signed?
Meri
This is great. But Squirrel Bait's "Skag Heaven" is better.
Honeirsil
I have #2689. I treasure it. Not signed though.
Frostdefender
I will trade my Mogwai - Special Moves https://www.discogs.com/Mogwai-Special-Moves/release/2438239 for this. Signed and sealed copy, for signed and sealed copy. Mine also includes Mogwai t-shirt in medium.

Some differences in my copy: on the hype sticker, "SLINT" plus a couple of keywords are printed in green, and the DVD comes in a separate, loose blank paper sleeve, unlike the pocket sleeve on the image. Everything else should be exactly the same.Made a separate entry: https://www.discogs.com/release/11998963

At least some of these were mastered at a higher pitch than intended; can anyone confirm they have a copy that plays back at the same frequency as the CD or the LP?
Anen
The one I have sounds fine on a good tape deck..
Dorintrius
Finally I have this LP in my collection. I'm happy
Gldasiy
Is this the first UK pressing or is it the green label UK version?
Beardana
I had to use my pitch adjust to get it to sound right but other than that it's a decent pressing.
Eyalanev
I have #2,340, not signed, so it's not that many. I see someone has a #789 for sale that's signed.
Iseared
Immensly happy with this pressing, beautifully put together package and the records sound perfect!
Scream_I LOVE YOU
It's all about the space in the sound, the restraint, the minimalism. Awesome album, still enjoy it as much now as I did when I first bought it
Agalen
Certain tracks sound a little iffy, pretty good pressing however
Rayli
no one is buying this for $100, you scalpers are the absolute scum of the earth.
Adoranin
but they did my friend ((ten words must be entered)) ;)
Nuadora
Is it a true analogue mastered LP? The cymbals sound quite lossy...
Ceck
It sounds analogue to me. NIce soundstage. I can spot digital a mile away and this sounds pretty good.
Manazar
I find this record a masterpiece. The circolary sound of the guitars moves me still so much..The poor package, as an hiding place of a treasure
BeatHoWin
For me Spiderland is rather boring. It's all so pretentious, predictable, planned. The folky guitar parts make the front cover hearable: nothing happens, waiting in the water, speaking to yourself to stay awake.
JoldGold
Haha I'm real glad you laughed at that but the review is actually 100% tongue in cheek - I'm a long time massive fan of the album! I do, however, feel there's far too much reverence surrounding it and many other supposed post rock classics! It's only a goddamn records guys!
tamada
This is the best critical review of this overrated album I've ever read."When they rock out it sounds like they've done a shit in their sandpit."I lol'd HARD. Frickin' win!
OwerSpeed
I nearly fell asleep in the cracks of this record, the big silent voids of emptiness where there's nothing happening, I think they must have been really depressed to make such a slow boring record. It's like listening to concrete dry. A couple of songs have terrible lyrics about some old wank, nerdy guy doesn't even try to sing. When they rock out it sounds like they've done a shit in their sandpit. I wish they'd have drowned like they were obviously trying to do on the cover. Your thoughts?

#670 here.

Unknown at the time of its publication (despite of Steve Albini endorsement), second Slint album will be rediscovered - as much as Frigid Stars by Codeine - through the spring of post rock music phenomenon. Yet, despite of the bands it will inspire, Spiderland displays a complete absence of emotive emphasis that makes it one of the best tributes to torpor and weariness. Climax, in Slint songs, is never reached even though it’s always suggested: so the music sways in an aquatic state of waiting. Unlike Codeine album, noisy harmonizations are more evident, and so are the geometrical - even if irregular - rhythmic patterns and dissolved structures of the songs. Spiderland is a post-hardcore album that implodes in apathetic stasis: a shy atmospheric music that annihilates classical singer role and rock canons based on sequences of tension/release.
Usic
Really a pity that they went for a plastic inner sleeve with such a nice package.
Tuliancel
could be that it is better than some standard paper ones, but it is always such trouble to get them in the sleeve while holding form. I prefer very sturdy (almost cardboard) or paper with a poly lining in them. But they really could have gone for a good printed inner sleeve to complete the packaging
Mettiarrb
Really? I like it when they do that as I think the vinyl is less likely to get scratched? I always think to myself "that shows they care"!
Mustard Forgotten
Anyone know how many of these were pressed?
fr0mTheSkY
I don't exactly know, actually. I remember that I saw them post about the cheap reissue on facebook and I immediately went to get it and got the green one because it was the limited one. A few weeks later, though, I went back to check on the website to see if any other green ones were left and there were. So I feel like this had to be a sizable-ish press.
Samulkree
I bought this when it was released, and there was no sticker on the front. Maybe the sticker was a later addition.
Taulkree
There is another edition of Spiderland being released on colored vinyl for the first time that comes with a dvd

I'm usually not into box sets, but this is Spiderland (and a must-have for any slint fan). Remasters are great, print is flawless. Then you have the outtakes...really cool. And the documentary just tops that awesome cake with a very sweet cherry.
Modar
#679 is signed so at least that many...
Boyn
mine is #593 so at least 600
Tygolar
I've got #400 signed. This set is about as rad as it gets.
Beydar
The re asters alone are worth the price, but the outtakes are what make this a must-have. Mine came with a reproduction of their tour shirt as well!
Daron
Mine is #301 and is signed, so I’m guessing at least 301.
Bil
anyone knows how many copies were signed by the band?
lolike
T&G said it's the first 1000 copies. So not exactly rare, but still cool.
Dream
The one I got, and am now forced to sell is in the 360s and is one of the autographed ones.
Burirus
Good Morning Captain - makes me cry with vengeance...
Early Waffle
Furthermore the URL sticker is a dead giveaway that 1995 is too early.
Perongafa
It's possible this might actually be a 2004/2005 reissue.I've seen sites like Amazon list a 2004/2005 reissue.
Eigeni
What is the basis for the date of the Golden mastered/black label version? I bought a new copy with green labels and no Golden in the late 1990s.
Alien
Vinyl is really the only way to listen to this album properly and this pressing is flat, quiet and dynamic.
