The Clash - Give 'Em Enough Rope mp3 album

Give 'Em Enough Rope (1978). Singles from The Clash. White Riot" Released: 18 March 1977. Remote Control" Released: 13 May 1977. The Clash is the debut studio album by English punk rock band the Clash. It was released on 8 April 1977 through CBS Records. In March 2003, Mojo magazine ranked The Clash number 2 in its Top 50 Punk Albums, writing that the album was "the ultimate punk protest album Noted Jamaican producer Lee Perry heard the album while in London in 1977, and played it to Bob Marley, who in turn mentioned the Clash on his own track "Punky Reggae Party". The album was included in Robert Dimery's 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Track listing.

Give’ Em Enough Rope, their second album (The Clash, released in the . in 1977, remains unissued here, as do several remarkable singles that appear on neither LP), is a rocker’s assault on the Real World in the grand tradition of Beggar’s Banquet, Let It Bleed and Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols. Give ‘Em Enough Rope entered the . charts at Number Two. Though a sniveling backlash has hit them in the British pop press, there’s no question that a lot of hopes, symbolic and otherwise, are riding on the group: If the album sells, does that mean the spirit is there to make society change a little faster?

Redirected from Give Em Enough Rope). Give 'Em Enough Rope is the second studio album by the English punk rock band the Clash. It was released on 10 November 1978 through CBS Records. It was their first album released in the United States, preceding the . version of The Clash. The album was well received by critics and fans, peaking at number two in the United Kingdom Albums Chart, and number 128 in the Billboard 200.

Although Give ‘Em Enough Rope doesn’t pack quite the punch or purpose of the band’s debut, Safe European Home, Tommy Gun, and Drug-Stabbing Time show a growing synergy in the songwriting partnership between Joe Strummer and Mick Jones. The rollicking R&B of Julie’s Been Working For the Drug Squad presages the stylistic breakthrough of London Calling, while English Civil War offers the band’s punk audience one last furious anthem. Produced by Blue Oyster Cult guru Sandy Pearlman, the Clash’s sophomore album was a conscious attempt to give the band a more commercial sound. Although Give ‘Em Enough Rope doesn’t pack quite the punch or purpose of the band’s debut, Safe European Home, Tommy Gun, and Drug-Stabbing Time show a growing synergy in the songwriting partnership between Joe Strummer and Mick Jones.

The teaming was quite controversial within the punk community, and the sound of Give 'Em Enough Rope is considerably cleaner, yet the more direct sound hardly tamed the Clash. While the record doesn't burn with the same intense, amateurish energy of The Clash, it does have a big, forceful sound that is nearly as powerful. What keeps Give 'Em Enough Rope from being a classic is its slightly inconsistent material.
