The Mothers Of Invention - Weasels Ripped My Flesh mp3 album

Weasels Ripped My Flesh is the seventh studio album by the American rock band the Mothers of Invention, and the tenth overall by Frank Zappa, released in 1970. It is the second album released after the Mothers disbanded in 1969, preceded by Burnt Weeny Sandwich. In contrast to its predecessor, which almost entirely focused on studio recordings of arranged compositions, Weasels Ripped My Flesh consists of a combination of live and studio recordings and features more improvisation.

Complex Elaborate Energetic Freewheeling Humorous Ironic Irreverent Quirky Rowdy. The Mothers of Invention, Frank Zappa. Weasels Ripped My Flesh. A fascinating collection of mostly instrumental live and studio material recorded by the original Mothers of Invention, complete with horn section, from 1967-1969, Weasels Ripped My Flesh segues unpredictably between arty experimentation and traditional song structures

Weasels Ripped My Flesh" starts with a jazz piece "Didja Get Any Onya?", which introduces the elements of complex rhythms, free jazz wanderings and atavistic bellowing, which are all strongly present on many tracks of this album. Following blues calms the storm for a while, but soon the music returns to the avant-garde straits. Apart from the wonderful double-set, "Uncle Meat", this was the most difficult listening album ever released by the Mothers of Invention. This is basically an compilation, with the majority being recorded live, of various Mothers performances from 67 to 69 which ended up being titled "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" and was actually the last release before the first era of the group disbanded.

Weasels Ripped My Flesh" is the ultimate ending to this album. Two minutes of feedback that is toyed with to make it sound like, well, weasels ripping flesh. Few people realize the artistic barriers this album knocked down with its jazz fusion and avant-garde rock n' roll, and therefore this a very underrated album. It was later scheduled to appear in a 12xLP box set in 1970 under the title "The History & Collected Improvisations Of The Mothers Of Invention", covering work from 1963 - 1969. FZ's ads in "Playboy" failed to raise interest - the set was culled, producing "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" & Burnt Weeny Sandwich - the balance to become the non-starter No Commercial Potential (bootlegged) and later, in 1974 but another non-starter set, "Four Generations Of The Mothers".

He’s a mine of the strange and hilarious and the Weasels Ripped My Flesh cover is just one such gem. Zappa briefed artist Neon Park to create something based on a men’s adventure magazine bearing the cover line Weasels Ripped My Flesh. Park created his bum-clenchingly painful cover by parodying a Schtick electric razor advert. The greatest thing about this album cover is that it looks like something that even Spinal Tap would reject. The bare flesh, the leather glove, the visual representation of the band’s name, every rock cliché is being squeezed for all its worth and the result is - perhaps surprisingly - a very stylish, sexy design that heralded the arrival of one of the most exciting albums of the decade. Bonus trivia: The bare flesh was abandoned for the American version of Is This It, in favour of a close-up particle collision. Boring! Prev Page 10 of 51 Next.
