Lali Puna - Faking The Books mp3 album
Faking the Books is a studio album by German electronic quartet Lali Puna. It was released in 2004 on the Morr Music label. It peaked at number 23 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
Faking The Books, Lali Puna's third album, is a maverick display of pop sensibilities applied to a world gone wrong. All the ingredients are there : The killer hooks, the subliminal fusion of generic undertones, Valerie Trebeljahr's alluring vocal delivery that at first soothes the senses and at second glance portrays the system in all its celluloid, deceptive glory.

Listen free to Lali Puna – Faking The Books (Faking The Books, Call 1-800-FEAR and more). Lali Puna is a band that was formed over five years ago, before anyone was familiar with the names Postal Service or Miss Kittin. It seems a shame people may not realize these kids, cooing vocalist Valerie Trebeljahr, along with Markus Acher (also from the belatedly-praised Notwist), Cristoph Brandner, and Christian Heiss, were forerunners of the burgeoning trend in popular music.

Now, with Faking the Books, Lali Puna snatch the Weilheim riffing crown back from Ms. John Soda- and thankfully, even top their labelmates melodically. After a pleasant but ultimately faceless title track opener, Lali Puna provide a double-shot of well-wrought rippers: "Call 1-800-FEAR" is the first, boasting a no-nonsense drive, tight instrumental harmonies and undistracting electronic loops that bolster the song's pulse. Atop it all floats bandleader Valerie Trebeljahr's underwater vocals, processed enough so as not to sound incongruous or (gasp!) bedroomy.
