Glenn Jones (born October 1, 1953) is an American guitarist, He is most recognized for his work in the experimental rock group Cul de Sac. History. At the age of fourteen Jones picked up playing the acoustic guitar, which he purchased after hearing Axis: Bold as Love. During the early seventies, Jones discovered American primitive guitar and became influenced by Robbie Basho and John Fahey. It wasn't until he was asked by Robin Amos to join Shut-Up that he began playing an electric guitar. In 1989, he founded Cul de Sac with Amos in Boston, Massachusetts. Unusually for a recent Glenn Jones album, his old five-string banjo doesn’t make it onto The Giant, but it was an act of mild ruthlessness that was unavoidable. Well there was always one banjo piece that I had written for this album, he explains. But part of what I enjoy after recording for the day is listening back to the stuff that night, and oftentimes I’ll discover things in that process that haven’t occurred to me when I’m actually playing the thing – I’m not sure if it’s a left brain and right brain thing – and I’m often able to be more.
