Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen / Jackie Wilson Said mp3 album
It was released by Warner Bros. in July 1972 as the first of three singles from the album and charted at number sixty-one on the US Billboard Hot 100. Both the music and lyrics are inspired by rhythm and blues singer Jackie Wilson and his song "Reet Petite", which is directly quoted in the song.
It reached number one in the United States, and was their second number one hit in the UK, following 1980's "Geno". The song was written by Kevin Rowland, Jim Paterson and Billy Adams, and was produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley.

Lyrics to Jackie Wilson Said. Dexys Midnight Runners Artistfacts. Barry from New York, NcI had NO idea that Dexy and the Runners actually had another song!! Not only does the term "one hit wonder" mean they only had one song in the top 40 but it also means they had only one song worth listening to. Craig from Madison, WiDexy's perform this on the English cult sitcom "The Young Ones. Did this Eagle come up with the term "Parrothead"? And what is it like playing "Hotel California" for the gazillionth time?
Poor old Johnnie Ray Sounded sad upon the radio He moved a million hearts in Mono Our mothers cried Sang along, who'd blame them. Now you're grown, (You're grown up) So grown Now I must say more than ever, come on Eileen Toora loora toora loo rye ay And we can sing just like our fathers. Come on Eileen, oh I swear what he means At this moment, you mean everything With you in that dress, my thoughts I confess "Verge on dirty", Ah come on Eileen Come on Eileen. Said come on) Come on Eileen, too loo rye ay (These things that are real so, how you feel) Come on Eileen, too loo rye ay (Now I must say more than ever) Toora toora, too loora (Things round here change) (I said toora loora) Come on Eileen, too loo rye ay (Toora loo rye ay) Come on Eileen, too loo rye ay.
Jackie Wilson said it was reet petite I kind of love you Yes it knocks me off my feet Let it all come down Oh let it all come down And you know I'm so wired up I don't need any more tea in my cup Let it all come down Oh let it all come down Now watch this Toodle.
Come on Eileen! Poor old Johnny Ray Sounded sad upon the radio Moved a million hearts in mono Our mothers cried Sang along, who'd blame them? You've grown (You’re grown up!) So grown (So grown up!) Now I must say more than ever (Come on Eileen) Too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye, ay And we can sing just like our fathers. Come on Eileen!) These people round here Were beaten down, eyes sunk in smoke-dried face They're so resigned to what their fate is But not us (No never) But not us (Not ever) We are far too young and clever (Remember) Too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye, ay And you'll hum this tune forever, oh. Come on Eileen Oh, I swear (What he means) Aah, come on let's Take off everything That pretty red dress Eileen (Tell him yes) Aah, come on let's Aah, come on Eileen That pretty red dress Eileen (Tell him yes) Aah, come on let's Aah, come on Eileen Please.
