They formed in 1992 in Newtown and began their career performing acoustically on Saturday afternoons at the Sandringham Hotel in King Street, Newtown. The Whitlams are an Australian four-piece band hailing from Newtown, New South Wales. Formed in 1992, the band originally comprised Tim Freedman (lead vocals, piano), Stevie Plunder (lead vocals, guitar) and Andy Lewis (double bass, backing vocals). The line-up has changed many times over the years with Tim the only consistent member of the band, not to mention the only original member still alive.

That was the challenge that faced the Whitlams when they came to release a follow-up to 1998's Eternal Nightcap. The result is Love This City. Whereas its predecessor had focussed on two major themes (the death of former frontman Stevie Plunder and long-distance relationships), this disc is less cohesive, covering a wide range of subject matter. The song style is different here, too, as Freedman allows his piano to take a back seat to guitars or brass on a number of tracks.

Undeniably the Whitlams is the second studio album by Australian band The Whitlams, released by Black Yak, Phantom in 1994. Due to popular request, it was re-released in 2001 as Undeniably The Whitlams - Reworked. It is their last album to feature guitarist Stevie Plunder. In 2001, Tim Freedman reworked much of the album, dedicating it to the memory of Stevie Plunder and Andy Lewis.

I see that there are some The Whitlams albums on this site, which is most excellent! I was hoping that we could also get Love This City (1999) Close.
