Juicy Lucy - Who Do You Love mp3 album

Juicy Lucy's version of the song "Who Do You Love?" was subsequently featured in the video game Shellshock: Nam '67. In 1995, Ray Owen resurrected the band's name and recorded the album Here She Comes Again. The line-up for this recording also included Mike Jarvis (guitar), Andy Doughty (bass), and Spencer Blackledge (drums). This version of the band broke up in 1997, but Owen persevered and joined up with guitarist Steve 'Mr Fish' Fishwick.

Juicy Lucy's first album (one of my top 10) has come out with two others in this compilation of dirty blues by the British rockers. The big hit was "Who Do You Love" which I believe the finest version of Bo Diddley's classic. 6 out of 8 tracks are reproduced here from the first album as well as a Frank Zappa great, "Willie The Pimp," making 19 heavy blues. Sound quality is excellent. I recommend this collection for those that appreciate rocking and rolling with the blues. The band mostly covered "traditional" blues songs. They had a minor hit in Britain with Bo Diddley's Who Do You Love. They play Spirit's Mr. Skin and Duane Allman's Midnight Rider. They do a nice job in playing these songs. They are the best versions ever made of any of the songs, but they are still good. There are a few original songs they do.

Juicy Lucy did score with a remake of Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love," which was a vehicle for slide guitarist Glenn Ross Campbell, on their 1969 debut, but that was about it. (These days one hit single would never guarantee a second, let alone third, album. The band was formed after the Misunderstood - a fine British blues and rock band who never received their proper due - dissolved. The bottom line is that Juicy Lucy was more a covers band than anything else, though Campbell and the band wrote a few songs, as well.

Juicy Lucy was formed by steel guitarist Glenn Ross Campbell, and prolific Blackburn saxophonist Chris Mercer, following the demise of The Misunderstood. They subsequently recruited vocalist Ray Owen, guitarist Neil Hubbard, bassist Keith Ellis, and drummer Pete Dobson. The line-up of the band has changed throughout its existence.
