Radio Burroughs - The Principles Of Hope Or Hybris mp3 album

Hybris (Swedish: hybris - "hubris") is the first studio album by the Swedish progressive rock group Änglagård. Released in late 1992, it would become one of the most influential albums of the new wave of progressive rock in the '90s. It begins with "Jordrök" (which means earth-smoke), the only fully instrumental piece on the album.

The Principle of Hope (German: Das Prinzip Hoffnung) is a book by the Marxist philosopher Ernst Bloch, published in three volumes in 1954, 1955, and 1959, in which the author explores utopianism, studying the utopian impulses present in art, literature, religion and other forms of cultural expression, and envisages a future state of absolute perfection. The Principle of Hope has become fundamental to dialogue between Christians and Marxists.

Principles encapsulates the fundamental principles and the various phenomena of underwater sound as they apply to sonar equation, the heart of prediction of sonar performance and the quantitative assessment of effectiveness of a sonar's target detection capability. Explanations are clear and well written for teaching and self-study and the book has a problem section with solutions.

This American Life host Ira Glass was never into William Burroughs. Didn't get why people love his writing so much. Then he heard this radio story that changed all that, partly because it wasn't very reverential about Burroughs. For Burroughs 101st birthday, we hear that story. Ira talks about the fact that he never much liked William Burroughs or his writing, just never got why Burroughs was this revered figure for some people. Then Ira heard a recent BBC documentary about Burroughs and finally understood. Ira says he's going to play the whole documentary on the show in honor of what would have been Burroughs 101st birthday this week.

Anglagard's haunting style is fully developed right off the bat with this first album. While all of the musicians are technically skilled, the songs are dramas written for their own sake, not for solos. Few of the melodies are memorable, but only due to their quantity and complexity. Hybris is a tense exercise of minor-chord compositions, and is more aggressive and condensed than their second album, Epilog, which has a richer feel.
