Innerzone Orchestra - Bug In The Bassbin mp3 album

Produced by Carl Craig, "Bug in the Bass Bin" is an alien funk gem with a unique two-bar loop of a couple of different sampled breakbreaks, a deep bassline, and a high line directly referencing the disco classic "Let No Man Put Asunder. Though the two B-sides "Nitwit" and "Surreal" are usually criminally under-hyped, they are just as timeless and bizarre as the flip side.

Reviews about Innerzone Orchestra - Bug In The Bassbin (4):

There is a legend that drum'n bass - named by LTJ Bukem - was created when Uk DJs, Mixmaster Morris, Gilles Peterson, and so on, played this Innerzone Orchestra track on 45. Peshay mix and 4 Hero mix make us feel a new era of drum'n base is dawning, and the tech-jazz flavors of Carl Craig's own street mix and As One's future/past mix are really the strong points of the EP.

Even the slightest amount of reading about the subject matter will tell u this is nonsense. Great tune but truly had no measurable impact on the jungle/drum n bass scene. Fabio is the only DJ to have played this and there are very few examples that he even did (check tracklistings) before 1995/96. However it did make a nice, simple story for journalists who had as much clue as u seem to, about how jungle was invented by 2 DJs (Fabio and grooverider) at one small though undoubtedly influential club (Rage). These journalists basically wanted to show that they hadn't ignored a good 2.5 years of this music's most crucial and radical stage of development by basically insinuating it was just a continuation of the music they had been snobbishly concentrating on (namely Detroit techno). You want the roots of jungle/dnb check sound system culture, Shut up and dance, cool hand flex, Reinforced and pirate radio recordings for a start.

Nearly all of the above is untrue, the slender truth , or myth , is that Grooverider played the original at 45rpm at early 90's DnB club - Rage, in London. It certainly did not create drum n' bass, more likely Grooverider and possibly other DJ's played this at 45rpm during the early days of Dn'B because there was a lack of quality fast breakbeat records outside of Hardcore, which had become unfashionable at the time.
Yllk
Excellent release, very original, almost genreless still cutting edge five years on. The Peshay & Street mixes are worth the most attention, aids to modern living.
