The photographer who captured the spirit of punk has released a book of her most arresting portraits. If they weren’t a band, they should have been. Janette Beckman, who chronicled the early years of punk in the UK, took this photograph in Coventry in 1980. She had by then made her name on Melody Maker, with pictures of the Clash on tour and the Sex Pistols in a skip; she caught the moment when Paul Weller first met Pete Townshend, one modfather to another; she made the Police’s first album cover; she assembled the Specials on Southend pier

Punks have their own peculiarities in visual art, dancing, literature, movies as well. Their artworks usually can be seen on flyers, album covers and punk zines. Punks are also the central characters of many novels, comic books and biographies. There are many punk poets and musicians, who influenced the development of many new genres. A great number of punk bands were the participants of movies. There are typical punk scenes in big cities usually centered on a core band, its fans, publishers of zines, visual artists, many other people, who organize concerts and are connected with the band. Though this subculture is regarded as violent and dependent on different substances, it does not mean that all the representatives of punks are criminals. It deserves the right to exist, as each person has his own point of view and choices in life. Thanks for your attention!!!

Big Star was an American rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971 by Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Jody Stephens, and Andy Hummel. The group broke up in early 1975, and reorganized with a new lineup 18 years later following a reunion concert at the University of Missouri. In its first era, the band's musical style drew on the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Byrds. Big Star produced a style that foreshadowed the alternative rock of the 1980s and 1990s

What image do you have hearing this word? Usually people would remember about loud music, tight leather trousers, heavy combat boots, military-style or Mohawk haircuts. Punks have their own peculiarities in visual art, dancing, literature, movies as well. Their artworks usually can be seen on flyers, album covers and punk zines (self-published works spread via photocopying). These images show sufferings, stupidity, apathy and provocation. You can meet black and white copies, collages, cartoons with such images. Punks have their underground press, the example of which is a punk zine.

Generation, hippies, punks, ravers, preppies, yuppies, amused by, satisfied with, embarrassed by, impatient with, irritated into, angry with, fed-up with, annoyed with, proud of, humiliated by. The procedure of the lesson: T: Good morning, dear children! Sit down! Who is on duty today? What date is it today? Who is absent today? What’s the weather like today? How do you do?

Another all-star on Drive-Thru Records' once peerless lineup, Allister accurately captured the joy and frustrations of being a teenager on their second album. Last Stop Suburbia could be simultaneously world-weary ("Overrated") and nostalgic ("Somewhere On Fullerton") at the same time. Choice Track: "Stuck". Ska punks Less Than Jake released a ridiculous catchy and sweet pop-punk album in 2003 with Anthem. On top of featuring a music video starring Alexis Bledel for "She's Going to Break Soon," the band reworked their older track "Look What Happened" to make it shorter and more explosive. Choice Track "Look What Happened".
