Virgil Keel Fox (May 3, 1912 in Princeton, Illinois – October 25, 1980 in Palm Beach, Florida) was an American organist, known especially for his flamboyant "Heavy Organ" concerts of the music of Bach. These events appealed to audiences in the 1970s who were more familiar with rock 'n' roll music and were staged complete with light shows.
Virgil Fox - Great Protestant Hymns (1956). The Legacy Series Volume III is Virgil Fox's "Great Protestant Hymns," recorded in 1956 on the new Aeolian-Skinner Organ in Riverside Church. After his Wanamaker Organ recording of 1964, this is the most frequently requested release-and for good reason. 21 hymns are treated to Virgil's rhythmic, dramatic, bold artistry. In over 57 minutes, the listener will be moved, exhilarated, inspired, and satisfied.
Organ - Advanced Arranged by Virgil Fox. Organ - Method or Collection. Classical and sacred organ (advanced organ). 29 pieces are included ranging from chorale settings, Christmas music, transcriptions of choral and orhestral works to an exciting arrangement of 'The Star-Spangled Banner'.
by Virgil Fox (Composer). This album is quite difficult to play for average organists. It also incorporates some distant keys that don't work on all organs (those not tuned in equal temperament. I recommend it with reservations. Bach "Komm Susser Todd" or "Come Sweet Death" as played by Fox on the Wannamaker organ. This publication meets all my expectations. Very pleased to find it.
