Deniece Williams possesses the voice of an angel with an awe inspiring range and emotive vocal ability unsurpassed. I became a fan around the time of LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY and purchased many back releases from her career. But there were many that I missed and this was one of them. This was her second release and it comes here with extensive liner notes that includes an indepth interview with Ms. Williams. The humility and sincerity she possesses gives the listener even more of an appreciation for her music. It comes from her heart and soul. The entire set here is a stage for Deniece to use her vocal prowess to explore many emotions with her artistry. The best tracks are indeed those she wrote. There have been many collections of Ms. Williams work and I am shocked that the amazing THE PAPER has not appeared on any before.
