The Shins - Oh, Inverted World mp3 album

Oh, Inverted World is the debut studio album by American indie rock band The Shins, released on June 19, 2001 to critical acclaim. Omnibus Records put out an initial run of vinyl distributed by Darla. Sub Pop Records reprinted the vinyl, but the Sub Pop logo only appears on later pressings. The album contains the songs "Caring Is Creepy" and "New Slang," both of which appeared in the 2004 film Garden State.

But, oh, they were wrong, and by the time actor Zach Braff directed his debut film, Garden State, in 2004 using two Inverted World tracks alongside tunes by Simon and Garfunkel, Nick Drake, and Iron and Wine, the naysayers had yelped uncle. It was clear the band had stumbled on a masterful process of music-making, cloaking folk-pop arrangements in a gauzy blanket of melancholy, using simple musical accents like a sublimely simple guitar note or an unhurried tambourine - surrounded by plenty of space - to keep it all buoyant and airborne. The band smartly sequenced New Slang smack in the middle of everything, making it by default the album’s centerpiece, with its effortless, breezy and somewhat mysterious essence that reveals itself a bit more with each listen. If that was the intent with the whole collection, the Shins are definitely smarter than your average group of pop musicians.

The Shins weren’t anything when I wrote that song. There wasn’t any hope for anything like a music career. It’s that end-of-your-20s thing. It’s definitely a moment in my life, that sort of angst and confusion about what my future was going to be. The Shins weren’t anything when I wrote that song.

Sub Pop proudly presents Oh, Inverted World, the debut album by hit-makers The Shins, on cassette for the first time ever. We expect this hot new format to significantly increase the album’s sales total, which is currently over 720,000. Here’s what we had to say about the record in 2001, when it first came out: Hailing from Albuquerque, NM, The Shins sprung from the ashes of Flake/Flake Music in 1997 (though those previous incarnations date back nearly a decade) – same members, different instruments, different approach.

Reviews about The Shins - Oh, Inverted World (2):
I'm pretty sure I bought this pre-2005 but how can you tell if your black LP is a 2001 release or a 2005 release? I don't see any differences.
This comment was posted on the CD listing, so some fellow vinyl owners may have missed your question - did you ever get your answer? It appears that the later pressings have more numbers etched into the deadwax.
