Selah Jubilee Singers - There'll Be A Jubilee / I Opened My Mouth To The Lord mp3 album

The Selah Jubilee Singers was an American gospel vocal quartet, who appeared in public as a gospel group but who also had a successful recording career as a secular group in the 1930s & 1940s. Around 1927, Thermon Ruth (1914–2002) founded the Selah Jubilee Singers, a group drawn from the membership of a church choir, while he was the deejay at WOR in Brooklyn, New York. He later based them in Raleigh, North Carolina when he moved his radio show to station WPTF. The Selah Jubilee Singers first recorded on April 28, 1938 for Decca, a session which included popular songs such as &. ead.

There will be a jubilee Oh my lord oh my lord There will be a jubilee When the children all go free Yeah they'll lay down their swords They'll study war no more There'll be a great big jubilee. Fightin' days is over And the victory has been won There'll be a day of rejoicing When our boys come marching home Yeah their fathers greet their sons They'll greet them one by one They're gonna lay down their swords And they'll study war no more.

The Fisk Jubilee Singers are an African-American a cappella ensemble, consisting of students at Fisk University. The first group was organized in 1871 to tour and raise funds for college. Their early repertoire consisted mostly of traditional spirituals, but included some songs by Stephen Foster. The original group toured along the Underground Railroad path in the United States, as well as performing in England and Europe. Later 19th-century groups also toured in Europe.
