The Dead C - The Twelfth Spectacle mp3 album
The Twelfth Album" is an alternative history short story by Stephen Baxter, first published in Interzone in April 1998. It is about an imaginary twelfth album recorded by the Beatles, called God. The album features songs that were written and recorded as solo projects by the group's members in reality, but in a parallel universe where the Beatles did not split up following the release of Let It Be, resulting in these songs being recorded by the group.
The Twelfth Spectacle is four records - each with its own title, each an improvised live recording from a different time and place (2002 Los Angeles; 2006 London; 2008 New York; 2013 Brussels). Taken together, it's a devastating three-hour journey through the artistic vision (anti-artistic non-vision) of The Dead C. Arena is the most recent recording. A roaring, churning beast built of two guitars, with the drummer sometimes propelling them along and sometimes stopping to bask in the fray. As a three-hour experience, The Twelfth Spectacle is exhausting, as we want it to be. Grapefruit themselves said it best: this is "the band at their most dynamic, oblique, challenging and consuming. DEAD C: The Twelfth Spectacle (4xLP SET). Grapefruit Year Four Series, Records 1-4 (2014). A follow-up to the immense Armed Courage is not easy, but The Twelfth Spectacle comes as close as anyone would hope The Dead C to achieve. This four LP set collects live recordings from the past decade by a band whose infrequent performances have become part of their legend. Captured herein is the band at their most dynamic, oblique, challenging and consuming. Each LP has its own title and origin.

For The Dead C, the best they could ever manage would be packing a small DIY space. This has everything to do with the elegantly fucked music that Russell, guitarist/vocalist Michael Morley, and drummer Robbie Yeats create together. Sometimes it takes on structure, like on the detuned songs that make up some of their earliest work on their 1989 album Eusa Kills or moments from their monstrous LP Trapdoor Fucking Exit, released two years later. Even more heated is The Twelfth Spectacle, a recently released four-LP box set of live recordings taken from the past 12 years of the band’s sporadic concert calendar. The hallmarks of their sounds are there, but they shift and adapt within each location.
The Dead C was formed in 1986 in Dunedin, New Zealand by guitarist/vocalist Michael Morley, ex-Verlaines drummer Robbie Yeats, and guitarist/vocalist Bruce Russell, who also ran the Xpressway label. Early on, the trio developed a drony, protracted approach to the trappings of rock music, releasing their feedback-heavy lo-fi recordings first on limited-run cassettes. The Dead C's first albums for Ba Da Bing were Future Artists in 2007 and Secret Earth in 2008. These were followed in 2010 by the new album Patience and reissues Clyma Est Mort/Tentative Power and Dead Sea Perform M Harris. The four-LP live box set The Twelfth Spectacle was issued by Grapefruit Records in 2014. A limited 7" single titled "Palisades" was released by I Dischi Del Barone in 2015.
