Richard Yared - Success mp3 album

Richard Yared ‎– Success. Label: Flip Records (20) ‎– YCO1001. Format: Vinyl, LP, Album. I don't think any track on the album exemplifies this impression of the album better than the funky cut I've Been Told. It's an ode to success, and it sneaks in subtle principles of Scientology that become obvious only after repeat listens.

Richard Yared – I Like You. This track is off the Success album by Richard Yared, recorded as a hommage to L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology. How to start to gradually free your immortal alien soul – the Thetan – from the empty shell that is your body on earth? The first steps are a series of tests with an E-Meter, an invaluable aid to measuring your mental state.

The front cover of this LP just screams private pressing! And, of course, it is. But it's not just a private pressing; it's a Scientology-related private pressing from an artist based in Roseville, Sydney. The guy lists his damn P.O. Box address on the back cover! It's dedicated to L. Ron Hubbard, of course, and like a lot of Christian music of the 70s, they don't come right out and say “I'm an [insert religious persuasion]”, but after you listen to the music for a while, you start to get the feeling that there's something they're trying to say without actually saying it. I don't think any track on the album exemplifies this impression of the album better than the funky cut I've Been Told. It's an ode to success, and it sneaks in subtle principles of Scientology that become obvious only after repeat listens. It's also worth noting that George Golla plays guitar on this record, Billy Burton makes an appearance on trumpet and Charlie Munro plays sax and flute! Oh, and did I mention Tony Ansell plays piano? According to the newspaper, the guy spent $9,000 financing the recording of this album, and he distributed it himself. This is one of the most interesting and well-produced Australian privately pressed records I've come across. Oh, and can I just say... while I've uploaded my favourites, the whole fucking record is great. I highly recommend it.
