Bring It Home" is a great Savoy Brown album. I have been following Savoy Brown since the early 70's and this is one of their best. Released in 1994, Bring It Home marks the beginning of the end of the long dry spell for Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown. Like Rip Van Winkle, just reawakened from a 20-year sleep (for Simmonds, it was probably about 4-5 years), the band wavers and wobbles, trying to find it's sea legs, but ultimately delivers the goods with the aid of a longtime friend known as Dr. Boogie.

Another album was programmed for Delmark but Piney Brown died before on 5 February 2009 in Dayton. We have here gathered almost all the recordings made by this important blues shouter between 1947 and 1959 plus a selection of his most bluesy tracks that he recorded in the 60's. A lot of thanks to Jollyjumper, Uncle Gil and Steve Wisner for their great help. 27. Bring it on home. 28. Baby don't do it. 29. One of these days. 30. Nashville wimmin'.
The choice of the obscure "Roll Like a Big Wheel," by Olive Brown is a burning R&B shouter, with smokin' harmonica and horns; Osborne's voice rises above the fray and locks the groove down tight. Ike Turner's "Game of Love" - written specifically for Tina - is a grimy, funky, nasty, strutting feminist anthem in Osborne's version; its meaning (and irony) never more clear. Her raucous transformation of John Mayall's "Broken Wing" is a revelation.
