Let It Be" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, released in March 1970 as a single, and (in an alternate mix) as the title track of their album Let It Be. At the time, it had the highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100, beginning its chart run at number 6. It was written and sung by Paul McCartney. It was their final single before McCartney announced his departure from the band.
The final Beatles album was first released on 8th May, 1970, just prior to the launch of the cinema film of the same name. Had the band been able to perfect some of the other songs and perhaps lay down some additional solid material, this album might have ended up as a classic "roots rock" effort. Let It Be is the twelfth and final studio album by English rock band The Beatles, released on 8 May 1970 by Apple Records. Issued almost a month after the band's breakup, it was originally conceived as Get Back, a return to their earlier, less complicated approach to music. Rehearsals began at Twickenham Film Studios in London in January 1969 as part of a planned documentary film showing the Beatles preparing to return to live performance.
By late 1968, The Beatles were in limbo. It had taken them five long months to record The Beatles ("The White Album") - months marked by tension, disagreements and strained relations, not to mention a double album's worth of classic songs. On the "Fly On The Wall" disc included with the Let It B. aked album, the band can be heard discussing the ill-fated idea of performing on a cruise ship. We'd be stuck with a bloody big boatload of people for two weeks," Harrison says. At least you can go home from here.
Let It Be'. From: 1970 single. The Beatles' final album was actually recorded before Abbey Road but sat on the shelf for a year before producer Phil Spector cobbled together a record from the hours of tangled tapes the band left behind. The 16-minute suite that takes up the majority of side two of the last album the Beatles recorded together (see No. 6 on our list of the Top 10 Beatles Songs) is made up of eight songs, most of them written and arranged by McCartney. The piece stands as one of the group's greatest works, an explosion of compositions stitched together as a sprawling, career-defining summation.

Let It Be is an album released in 1970 by English rock band The Beatles. It is their 12th and final album even though production started before the Abbey Road sessions. Let It Be was an attempt to breathe new life into The Beatles by having them perform together live in the studio rather than record complex arrangements separately and put them together via overdubs. In essence, Paul McCartney wanted them to go back to their roots.
