Blackmore's Rainbow - Monsters Of Rock 2016 mp3 album

In June 2016, legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore made his much-anticipated return to rock music as RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW played three concerts in Europe, two in Germany and one in England. The two German shows at Loreley and Bietigheim were caught on camera to produce the concert film "Memories In Rock", which was released by Eagle Vision and Eagle Records in November 2016. This new 2CD set captures the full audio from the British show at the Genting Arena at the NEC, Birmingham. Live In Birmingham 2016" track listing

Blackmore could have hired a more appropriate rhythm section: bassist Bob Nouveau’s style is way too funky for this classic hard rock set, and Bob Keith’s drum set looked like one Cozy Powell might have received for his ninth birthday. And maybe, just maybe, Rainbow could have played more Rainbow songs

Rainbow are an English-American hard rock band originally from Hertford, Hertfordshire. Formed in February 1975 by then-Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, the original lineup of the group also included former Elf members Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Craig Gruber (bass), Gary Driscoll (drums) and Micky Lee Soule (keyboards), who recorded and released the self-titled album Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow that year.

The 2016 performances were Blackmore's first rock concerts in almost two decades. It was recorded by a band that featured Blackmore, singer Ronnie Romero, drummer David Keith, bassist Bob Nouveau, keyboardist Jens Johanssen and background singers Candice Night and Lady Lynn. Reviews about Blackmore's Rainbow - Monsters Of Rock 2016 (1):
Pretty good audience recording thats well balanced, clear and decently mastered albeit a little quiet. As a performance, I found this lacking as if Blackmore is just going through the motions. The Purple additions to the set are in my opinion, performed to a better quality by the current Purple line up, with far more skill and passion. As for the Rainbow material, nothing really stands out other than than for me, the opportunity to listen to some live Rainbow for the first time since I last saw them in the early eighties. The set even includes those relics from the past of instrumental solos from keyboards, bass and drums. Very unexciting and trite in these modern times. No one doubts the musicians skill and this time could have been better spent performing other material from the catalogue. All in all a rather unsatisfying performance but if you're a Rainbow/Blackmore fan you'll probably find worse performances from the past although this is adequate due to Blackmore performing these songs once more.
