Sigur Rós - Valtari mp3 album

) is the third full-length album from Icelandic band Sigur Rós, first released in February 2002. It comprises eight untitled tracks, divided into two parts: the first four tracks are lighter and more optimistic, while the latter four are bleaker and more melancholic.

valtari was sigur rós's last album as a four-piece. an elegaic work; they didn't feel much like talking about it, and so, instead, asked a bunch talented directors to make whatever they felt like making to go with music. these 16 films are the result. responses to this most contemplative sigur rós album.

If you're familiar only with Sigur Rós' studio albums, you might hear Valtari as a maximalist version of ()- which would essentially negate the entire point of (). Too loud to truly pass for ambient music, yet too invertebrate to accommodate visceral pleasures, Valtari is most often simply there, the passage of time distinguished only by the occasional shift in texture.

Valtari (Icelandic pronunciation:, Roller) is the sixth studio album by Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós. It was released on 23 May 2012 by Parlophone.

Sigur Rós. Released 2012.

Includes an additional CD insert in a cardboard slipjacket.

Their previous album Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust had been their most intimate and cheerful record to date with songs that could actually be called "songs" and the band stripping their sound down to the point where you could almost pick out individual instruments in the mix. It appears that singer Jonsi took all the sunshine and most of the pop song structure away for use in his solo career, because Valtari is a return to the epically somber and sonically all-encompassing approach the band perfected on their first few albums.

Sigur Ros return with their signature sound but also give the listener something new with latest album, Valtari. This year marks Sigur Rós’ eighteenth year in existence and this week sees the release of their sixth studio album ˜Valtari’. It has been an unusual career for Jónsi and his cohorts, one which has seen them ascend to stadium gig status with the release of ˜Takk’ in 2005. There was something about that album which held universal appeal and propelled the band into the realms of superstardom

3 weeks ago. I listened to this album while driving through the Southern Alps in New Zealand. 4 months ago. unlike other artists, i can listen to sigur ros over and over and never tire of them. their music is what inspires me the most. too bad others don't notice its beauty.

Reviews about Sigur Rós - Valtari (12):
Valtari is an outstanding album and I believe it is severely underrated. This pressing is a nice addition to my collection. However, it is by no means a perfect pressing. The sound can be distorted at times and I believe the pressing could be more dynamic. If you're a fan of this album then by all means I recommend getting it but I do think it suffers from its full potential.
Frankly, after reading all the issues here concerning most of the band's pressings, I am happy I bought their CD's prior to my coming back to vinyls about a year ago or more. CD's sound great if you have good audio device. I will NOT spend what some sellers require here to buy nonsense. HOW CAN COMPANIES SELL NON-RELIABLE PRODUCTS ? They should be checked and dumped when not satisfactory. Whatever the cost. But I suppose YOU and I pay the cost of bad products in the end !!!
The noise on this record is intentional. if you can force yourself to sample a digital version you will hear this. However, my US version is in fact is flawed. Side D has a serious blister at the end and severely whaps . Since the record resurgence and renewal of pressing operations have been put on a fast track to keep up with demand, resulting in poor quality control. I hope that this improves. My observations conclude that 1 in 5 records in the past year are flawed.
My US copy is very noisy. Overall sound is very good, but lots of pops and crackles even after cleaning. And indeed, a groove at the end of Side B is locked.
The recording itself has pops and crackles all throughout it for artistic effect. Could be that.
I just bought this and it does not include a download code even though it says so on the sticker. Personally I don't care, but just a warning if some do. Also, my copy on XL sounds great for what it's worth.
I have the US version on XL and it does not sound awful like another reviewer pointed out. Very clean and crisp. Great release.
The US version on XL sounds pretty awful. Pick up the Euro version, if possible.
Side B has a locked groove at the end.
After a small hiatus, Sigur Rós is finally back with Valtari. The band said that the album would be more electronic, than their previous work, and while they do have a point about that, the only thing that I feel that's electronic, is the ambience and a few ambient textures. Surprisingly, ambience dominates the whole album, and there's hardly any drums, or any guitars for that matter (though they are still there), something which long time fans might have issues with. Personally however, it works amazingly. All of the tracks has a special atmosphere about them, that just pulls you into it's own little world. Among the standout tracks, are "Varúð," one of the few tracks on the album that has drums and guitars. The track starts out pretty calmly, and gradually builds up to a really epic ending, complete with a childrens choir. "Dauðalogn" is without a doubt the best track on the entire album. Besides being really beautiful, it's really emotional, even if you don't know what Jónsi is singing about.Overall, Valtari is an excellent album.
