Manuel de Falla y Matheu (November 23, 1876 – November 14, 1946) was a Spanish composer of classical music. Manuel de Falla was born in Cádiz. Three Cornered Hat" is a merry romp, and "Nights in a Garden of Spain" is a beautiful piece of music, as well. This wonderful disc also contains Nights in the Gardens of Spain and the Three Cornered Hat, all by Manuel De Falla. I love them all and this is a great recording. Published on December 25, 2007. NotesJapan-for-U.S. combined CD issue of selections previously featured on two separate Varèse Sarabande LP's: 704.110 ("Nights In The Gardens Of Spain") and VCDM 1000.170 ("The Three Cornered Hat"), both performed by Enrique Batiz and the Symphonic Orchestra of the State of Mexico. The release includes an eight-page booklet with liner notes by Noreen Field, Frances Rickett, and Tom Null; brief biographical notes about the composer, conductor, and featured soloists; and color front and back covers, the former featuring a reproduction of a painting by an unidentified artist. (The title of Track 2.4 is given as "The Miller's Dance" on the back of the inlay card, and as "The Miller's Wife" on the CD label. Since Track 3.2 is already entitled "The Miller's Dance," I'm guessing that the latter is correct! Also, the actual track numbers on the CD don't match those on either the packaging or the CD label -- only just discovered! -- and have therefore been corrected for the Tracklisting section ...)
