Pete Seeger - The House Carpenter / In The Evening When The Sun Goes Down mp3 album
Pete Seeger (May 3, 1919 - January 27, 2014) was an American folk singer, political activist and author, and a key figure in the mid-20th century American folk music revival. He is particularly loved as the author (or co-author) of the songs Where Have All the Flowers Gone, If I Had a Hammer, and Turn, Turn, Turn. One of his brothers is Mike Seeger; Peggy Seeger is his half-sister. As a member of The Weavers, Seeger had a string of hits, including a 1949 recording of Leadbelly's "Goodnight Irene" that topped the charts for 13 weeks in 1950.
This self-titled Pete Seeger album is a reissue of the 1953 10" LP A Pete Seeger Concert released by Stinson Records and contains 12 live recordings apparently made in the early '50s. No date is given, but Seeger sings "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine," a 1951 hit for his old group the Weavers, and since the initial release was in 1953, that tends to narrow the time period . In the Evening When the Sun Goes Down. Leroy Carr, Don Raye.
The box set tells Pete Seeger's story in song across six discs and 137 tracks, 20 previously unreleased. It is accompanied by a richly-illustrated 200-page book with an essay by Robert Santelli, a well-written musical biography by Jeff Place and track-by-track notes. The only thing that is missing is the lyrics.
