The Cyrkle is best known for their 1966 song "Red Rubber Ball," which went to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. It was co-written by Paul Simon, of Simon and Garfunkel, and Bruce Woodley of The Seekers, and was released by Columbia Records. Later in 1966, the band had one more Top 20 hit, "Turn-Down Day" (.After the release of their debut album, Red Rubber Ball, they recorded a second album, Neon, in late 1966, and a movie soundtrack, The Minx, in 1967.

As an album, you may find pieces of Neon a little nondescript, but if you are curious, you may find it enjoyable. 3 people found this helpful. Nearly anyone who cares can make do with the basic Cyrkle collection or a handful of downloads. But in retrospect this must have been one of the more enjoyable pure pop LPs of 1967, nicely programmed (except for the awful "Problem Child"), & expectations were quite high given the band's connection with The Beatles & two earlier hits. But Neon skewed a little more offbeat than maybe the group had intended - a lot of pop groups had confused directions around that time, felt a need for "hip" production touches. Other fine vocal groups were also casualities of the.
Neon was pretty much more of the same ock accents that the Cyrkle had delivered on their debut, Red Rubber Ball. As a result, the album's less worthwhile than its predecessor and just doesn't measure up to the more substantial groups of the era, whether pop/rock or folk-rock ones.
