X - See How We Are mp3 album

See How We Are is the sixth studio album by American rock band X, released in 1987 by Elektra Records. It was their first album without founding guitarist Billy Zoom, who was replaced by ex-Blasters guitarist Dave Alvin for the album's recording sessions and some live shows. Alvin left X on good terms and was replaced by Tony Gilkyson. It was reissued with five bonus tracks by Rhino in 2002.

See how we are Hey man, what's in it for me? See how we are We only sing about it once in every twenty years See how we are Oh, see how we are. Well, this morning, the alarm rang at noon And I'm trying to write this letter to you About how much I care And why I just can't be there To draw your bath and comb And comb your hair

By the time the band released its sixth album, See How We Are, Alvin had already left the band, although he played on the record along with Gilkyson and wrote 4th of July for the band. The album marked somewhat of a retreat from the increasingly roots rock direction that the band's past few records had gone in, instead featuring an eclectic alternative rock sound that fit in well with the then-current musical climate.

It's crazy how productive some bands were in the &.The Cure and the Smiths shat out records annually with a pretty good batting average. Same goes for the . punks in X, who put out six albums in seven years, five of which are great. 1985's Ain't Love Grand!, however, is not great. The one good thing about Ain't Love Grand!, though, is that it was so terrible that it made the band's final album (before the numerous reunions, anyway), See How We Are, sound even better. I bought my X albums chronologically, so I can say I felt the same emotions as X's original fans in the & did. I was relieved to hear a return to the rockabilly sound. Granted, Ain't Love Grand! led to founding guitarist Billy Zoom's temporary departure, but his replacements, Dave Alvin and Tony Gilkyson, fill in admirably.

After making two of the finest albums ever released (Los Angeles and Wild Gift), the Los Angeles band X signed to a major label. With The Doors’ Ray Manzarek again producing and protecting, X recorded yet another peerless album. The commercial music scene was so at odds with genuine rock ‘n’ roll that the band eventually found a home in the underground alternative scene, which had sprung up partly due to bands such as X. The Hungry Wolf, an excellent representation of what X did best, became a mild hit and raised the band's profile accordingly. The death of lead singer Exene Cervenka’s.
