Joe Henderson (April 24, 1937 – June 30, 2001) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. In a career spanning more than four decades, Henderson played with many of the leading American players of his day and recorded for several prominent labels, including Blue Note. Born in Lima, Ohio, Henderson was one of five sisters and nine brothers. He was encouraged by his parents Dennis and Irene (née Farley) and older brother James T. to study music
Joe "Mr Piano" Henderson (2 May 1920 – 4 May 1980) a British pianist born in Glasgow, Scotland, was most noteworthy during the 1950s. Henderson was taught to play the piano by his mother and became a professional at age fifteen, playing in dance bands. After World War II, he began working for the Peter Maurice publishing company. It was there that he met the singer Petula Clark in 1947. Henderson's biggest hit was "Trudie", which made in the UK Singles Chart, and in the sheet music chart, where it was the biggest hit of 1958.

Possibly the tenor saxophonist's best album, this was the last of five he cut for Blue Note between 1962 and 1966. The lineup here is tremendous - in addition to Henderson you have Lee Morgan on trumpet, Curtis Fuller on trombone, Bobby Hutcherson on vibes (ANYTHING with Hutcherson from this era is worth having), Cedar Walton on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Joe Chambers on drums.
