Gordon Smith - Long Overdue mp3 album
8. I've Been Down So Long.
A classic "live recording" of unvarnished vintage blues led by a musician whom the late John Peel famously described as "the foremost white blues guitarist in the world" accompanied by some of the UK's finest blues musicians. The foremost white blues guitarist in the world" (John Peel). Over the years Gordon Smith has played alongside Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, Snooky Prior and also supported Muddy Waters, Jo-Ann Kelly, Lowell Fulson and Dr Ross amongst many others as well as recording some excellent albums.
Gordon is the debut studio album by Canadian band Barenaked Ladies. It was released through Sire Records on July 28, 1992. After The Yellow Tape was certified platinum in Canada, the group won a contest hosted by a local radio station. With the winnings, Barenaked Ladies were able to hire producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda and record the album at Le Studio, north of Montreal.
Gordon Smith, an only child, was born to Gordon, Snr. and Olive Smith on March 12 1949, at his grandparent's house, 42 School Loaning, Simonside, South Shields, Tyne & Wear. Gordon received his education at South Shields Primary and Secondary schools, but he was not interested in instruction and training. As he says, "school was not really my thing". Through Gordon's girlfriend, a window dresser, Gordon met his now life-long friend Charles Biggs, a salesman at a similar shop to Gordon's. Charles persuaded Gordon to move to London permanently and the pair lived in a two-bedroom flat in Shepherd's Bush with their girlfriends. In the summer of 1968, Gordon had signed a management deal with Clifford Davis, manager for both Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac.
