BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Doctor Who Collector's Edition mp3 album

Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop Volume 1: The Early Years 1963–1969 is the first in a series of compilations of Doctor Who material recorded by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Compiled and remastered by Mark Ayres, the album features mostly sound effects and atmospheres from the first six years of the programme. Although some incidental music tracks do appear, most of the album's content is by original Doctor Who sound effects creator Brian Hodgson.

BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Perfil: Initiated in 1958 by Daphne Oram and Desmond Briscoe to create 'special sound' for BBC radio programmes and later famously supplied the "Doctor Who" TV series with its theme tune. It was eventually closed in 1998, by which time many of the future pioneers of electronica, had either been employed at the workshop, or had been inspired by the work that was created there. Mathematical minds was needed to create and engineer sounds by cutting and looping tape-bits. The workshop spawned many talents that still fascinates today's musical pioneers, most notably the Doctor Who theme, which is to my ears a masterpiece done with multiple tape-loops played simultaneously. I would advise you to look into the history of this era if you are serious about music, if you haven't, it might change your idea of where the beginning of electronic music started.

Doctor Who: 30 Years at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The compilation featured a selection of sound-effects and atmospheres from throughout the history of the programme as well as a sample of music from the 1993 BBC Radio production "The Paradise of Death"

Doctor Who: At the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Vol. 1 is one of the cooler and stranger television soundtrack CDs ever to come out of the BBC archives - from the opening oscillations of Ron Grainer's original theme music in all of its uncut glory (nearly two and a half minutes long), the disc runs through sound effects and other eerie audio material presented. The CD promises music, sound effects, "atmospheres," and "ambiences" from the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop, and it delivers one of the eeriest listening experiences that one can find in soundtracks - if this had been released circa 1967, it would have quickly been picked up as one of the great druggy soundtrack accompaniments of its period.
