While cutting rock & roll singles for the teenage market, 20-year-old Connie Francis switched gears on her second album, recording a set of standards backed by strings and intended for the adult market. Her assurance was demonstrated on such uptempo songs as "Come Rain or Come Shine," on which she sang authoritatively, and she was just as effective on ballads like "Time After Time. Unfortunately, no real attempt was made to market her as a singer of classic pop at this point, and The Exciting Connie Francis went unnoticed.
