Mar Gaya" had staccato picking and swampy reverb reminiscent of Dick Dale, while "Malibu Run" had scrapes and echo effects that conveyed the most disquieting aspects of the sea. Surf music was on the verge of passing out of vogue, however, and the Fender IV also edged into the British Invasion-influenced era with "You Better Tell Me Now," a curious but catchy mix of Merseybeat and surf. The Fender IV were started up in Baltimore, by guitarist Randy Holden. Their music was strongly influenced by Dick Dale, and The Ventures. When the popularity for surf music decreased their style changed to a vocal based sound, and they changed name to Sons of Adam, bestowed upon them by the record producer Kim Fowley. Tomorrow (A Better You, a Better Me)" is a song originally recorded by the Brothers Johnson as an instrumental in 1976 on the album Look Out for In 1989, Siedah Garrett wrote lyrics to the song, and it was recorded by Quincy Jones featuring Tevin Campbell on vocals for the album Back on the Block. The new version of the song spent one week at number one on the US R&B chart and peaked at number seventy-five on the US pop chart in June 1990.
