Be Yourself is the ninth solo album by American singer Patti LaBelle, released in 1989 on the MCA label, her second album with the company following 1986's platinum hit, Winner in You. The album features the single, "If You Asked Me To" (a US R&B top 10 single by LaBelle, later covered by Celine Dion), which is also featured on the soundtrack to the James Bond movie, Licence to Kill, and the top ten Prince-written hit, "Yo Mister"
The Patti Smith Group was signed by Clive Davis of Arista Records, and in 1975 recorded their first album, Horses, produced by John Cale amid some tension. The album fused punk rock and spoken poetry and begins with a cover of Van Morrison's "Gloria", and Smith's opening words: "Jesus died for somebody's sins but not mine" (an excerpt from "Oath", one of her early poems). However, several of its songs have stood the test of time, and Smith still performs them regularly in concert. She has said that Radio Ethiopia was influenced by the band MC. .I've been working on a detective story that starts at the St Giles in the Fields church in London for the last two years", she told NME adding that she "loved detective stories" having been a fan of British fictional detective Sherlock Holmes and . crime author Mickey Spillane as a girl. Part of the book will be set in.
Green Day, the Ramones, Patti Smith and more make the punk album list. Ebet ty, Ian ty, Dick ty. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ramones’ toweringly influential self-titled debut, we’ve compiled a list of the 40 Greatest Punk Albums of All Time. If Ramones was Year Zero for punk rock, it didn’t come without precedent, so we included essential forebears like the Stooges, the New York Dolls, Pere Ubu and Patti Smith, artists who were punk in spirit (if not always entirely in sound) before the style really had a name. Marquee Moon drew on surrealist poetry and free jazz, connecting Sixties psychedelia with a more aggressive brand of derangement. The result was punk rock's first - and greatest - guitar landmark, making New York's mean streets seem like a mystic playground.

Patti Drew’s 1967 debut album Tell Him may actually be her least consistent, containing as it does 3 covers of Southern soul staples.
I've been here before But always hit the floor I've spent a lifetime runnin' And I always get away But with you I'm feeling something That makes me want to stay I'm prepared for this I never shoot to miss But I feel like a storm is coming If I'm gonna make it through the day. Then there's no more use in runnin' This is something I gotta face. How do I live? How do I breathe? When you're not here I'm suffocating I wanna feel love run through my blood Tell me is this where I give it all up? For you I have to risk it all Cause the writing's on the wall. If I risk it all Could you break my fall? How do I live? How do I breathe?
К Well, for the time being I've been given a tiny. apartment, but it's in a great part of town. be moving somewhere else? К That's right. I won't be living here for long. I'll be. offered a bigger place as soon as one becomes. I've been pickpocketed and mugged. I've met a lot of really great people. He's been to Vietnam and Japan.
I've Been Here All the Time.
Patti has fronted two moderately successful groups Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles and LaBelle, before rising to superstardom as a solo artist in the late 1970s. She is best known for her strong soprano vocals and her signature high-octave vocal belting.
