Street Songs is one of them old-school and 1980s albums that make you wish that you were an adult in the 1980s so you could enjoy it in its original run, at clubs, at parties, at home, or at concerts live. The late Rick James first love was the fine art of jazz music. He eventually found his calling in the field of funk and soul. In 1981, James released "Street Songs", which goes down in Motown history as quite possibly the greatest funk album ever released. This album stayed on top of the R&B charts for over 5 months, and was fueled by the the mega hits "Give It To Me", and "Superfreak", which dominated the pop charts all summer long in 1981.
Setting Rick James on the road to success, ‘Street Songs’ reflected the conflicting duality at the heart of his punk funk aesthetic. Published on. April 7, 2019. James had already lit up the charts with his debut album, 1978’s Come Get It!, which melded his brash, edgy, street personality with sizzling soul flavours and earthy disco-funk grooves. Three more albums followed in the wake of that explosive debut, but it was Street Songs that took things to a whole other level. Released on 7 April 1981, the album’s success was aided by the funkafied, infectious dance groove ‘Give It To Me Baby’, a single.
Point of No Return (Keyshia Cole album). Point of No Return is the sixth studio album by Grammy-nominated R&B singer Keyshia Cole; it was released on October 7, 2014, by Interscope Records and served as Cole's final album with the label
