Wayne Escoffery (born 23 February 1975 in London, England) is a jazz saxophonist based in New York City. Since 2000, he has been working in New York City with Carl Allen, Eric Reed, and the Mingus Big Band. Other musicians performed with include Ralph Peterson, Ben Riley, Ron Carter, Rufus Reid, Bill Charlap, Bruce Barth, Jimmy Cobb, and Eddie Henderson. He has worked with vocalists including Mary Stallings, Cynthia Scott, Nancie Banks, LaVerne Butler, and Carolyn Leonhart.

Winther has toured the US and europe as the leader of the Christian Winther Quartet and performed as a sideman with many New Orleans jazz groups. Some of the musicians Winther has performed and/or recorded with include: Ali Jackson, Vincent Gardner, Shannon Powell, Herlin Riley, Billy Drummond, Marcus Printup, Richard D. Johnson, Rodney Green, Reuben Rogers, Fredrick Sanders, Germaine Bazzle, Preservation Hall among others. Winther also participated in a 3 tenor tenor jam session recording with Gregory Tardy and Wayne Escoffery on Steeplechase jam session Vol. 21 - (2006).
SteepleChase was founded in 1972 by Nils Winther, who was a student at Copenhagen University at the time SteepleChase became a haven for many artists who had lost contracts with larger labels after the 1960s.
