Album · 2015 · 8 Songs. A decade on from Ruby Blue’s avant-jazz and eight years after the glistening disco of Overpowered, Ireland’s abiding electropop queen stylishly retakes her throne on this sumptuous, ever-shifting third solo album. Murphy (alongside Moloko collaborator and new co-writer Eddie Stevens) isn’t afraid to hurl new ideas into an already-brimming pot, as evidenced by the spaghetti western drama of Exile and the escalating synth-funk atmospherics on Exploitation. There’s always cohesion to match the fearless sonic questing, though

Hairless Toys is the third solo studio album by Irish recording artist Róisín Murphy, released on 8 May 2015 by Play It Again Sam. It is Murphy's first full-length release since 2007's Overpowered. The album was nominated for Best Irish Album of 2015 at the Choice Music Prize and the 2015 Mercury Music Prize. In 2016, it was awarded a silver certification from the Independent Music Companies Association, indicating sales of at least 20,000 copies throughout Europe.

The genesis of Hairless Toys lies in last year s Mi Senti EP. A release mainly of covers, all sung in Italian, a collaboration between Roisin, her partner Sebastiano Properzi, and Eddie Stevens. Stevens has been Musical Director for all Roisin's live work since 1997. Róisín Murphy casts a spell with this beautiful and lush album. The songs unfold slowly and gracefully over fantastic production with wonderful lyrics. Both acoustic and electronic sounds blend together beautifully throughout the eight tracks. Overpowered was a great album, but this is just a whole new level!

80. It's the brooding dancefloor ordnance which marks Hairless Toys as a career highlight.

Hairless Toys is the third solo studio album by Irish recording artist Róisín Murphy, released on 8 May 2015 by Play It Again Sam. It is Murphy's first full-length release since 2007's Overpowered Contents. The album was nominated for the 2015 Mercury Music Prize. The announcement of the album was accompanied by a stream of the first track, "Gone Fishing", which Murphy confirmed was inspired by the 1990 documentary film Paris Is Burning.

Róisín Murphy is the ultimate career woman. From teenage runaway to cult sensation, the mother of two has managed to truly have it all, thanks to a deadly combination of dry wit and raw talent. It’s this talent that might appear - from the outside - to have lain dormant for almost a decade, with the singer releasing what can be best described as bits and bobs over the last eight years, but nothing on the scale of her last long play record, ‘Overpowered’. But all that is about to change

Gavigamand
Track B2 "Exile" skipped on all 3 copies that I received: 2 from Amazon, 1 directly from the record company. Must be a production issue. Shame.
