Reviews about Nino Sandow / Michael Dubach / Max Goldt - Musik Wird Niemals Langsam (1):
I don't really know that much about early 20th Century German music, but this has that audio drama feel to it. I guess to my uneducated ears this sounds like WEILL, only softer, more melodic. It certainly hearkens back to an old school of entertainment, and you kind of get the impression that it tells a dozen and a half tales. Okay, so it's dated, but you somehow get the impression that this is a direction MAX GOLDT (the only member of the three I have any fore-knowledge of) has hankered to more in for a while. Stripped down and minimal (mostly just voice and piano) it nevertheless becomes quite catchy after only a handful of listens, and is a nice alternative to ambient music sometimes, although I'd not have it playing too often. Very cleverly done, very accomplished, it often reminds me of NICO's spartan work, and I'm sure has much the same influence. It's difficult to fully appreciate it with little understanding of the German language, but it sounds an accomplished work. Don't buy this if you want anything remotely experimental or Industrial - this is pure pre-WWII theatre, but a worthy concept album if you are inclined towards this style of music.
