Angels Fell was one of the big early metalheadz tunes -typically eerie synths, multi-dislocating beats + Dillinja crunching bass action ahoy - the 2 B-sides were of notable quality too -one being amen break action ahoy -the latter -an eerie melancholy of a gem. Will close confident and kindred spirit, Dillinja didn't release a huge amount of material on Metalheadz 21 years old and still sounding future than most tracks out there, each of the three cuts don't just deserve 'classic' or 'level up' status, they deserve bronze statues in the centre of every jungle-living city. From the icy chords and far-away gaze of "The Angels Fell" to the gritty drum hypnosis and sub-laden tension in "Brutal Bass", these cuts are in the DNA of every D&B, every jungle and every bass music.

Reviews about Dillinja - The Angels Fell (27):
Ja Know Ya Big - it might be my favorite jungle/dnb track of all time. Something about it. Doesn't even sound like Dillinja, sounds like coming through him from god.
'Brutal Bass' is the cut on this phat slab of dillinja gold. All three tracks are seminal Headz bangers

Throw her heart
I have both the original and this re-master, and this release is even louder than the original if that's at all possible. The jewel in the early Metalheadz back catalogue, one of Dillinja's best early recordings.
Stone cold classic Blade Runner sampling jungle from the one and only Dillinja, save yourself a few quid on the second hand market and grab this repress while you can!
I knew this sounded like a Blade Runner sample. Thanks for the confirmation!
http://www.redeyerecords.co.uk/vinyl/9419-meth-006-dillinja 2016 repress up on the redeye site ! !
Nice1 Fam Defo one to have in the crates.
Brutal Bass is the pick of an excellent bunch for me, everything a Jungle track should be, deep, dark, sparse with great drums & cavernous BASS !
Trippy Dark Jungle on rocks
This 12 definitely needs another review. Rarely, a 12 is released that is a complete game changer. This has got to be THE loudest, clearest recorded track on vinyl out there. For clarity, in my opinion it's on a par with Rockit by Herbie Hancock. Whenever I'm setting up my sub in my car, these are the tunes I use. Dark, twisted, the production is rich and atmospheric, The Angels Fell epitomised everything that is great about Jungle/D & B in 95. This twelve is not just about the A side - give it a flip and you are seriously starting to get your money's worth. A decent copy is going for around the 40 quid mark at the moment and it's still worth every penny. Jah know Ya Big is a dark and dirty little number, with plenty going on throughout. Brutal Bass is for me, the real gem here. Dubby and dark, the quality of the production really shows. The keyboards really add atmosphere and menace to the track. It really is brutal. Play it loud and you really start to get the point of this recording. It needs to be played loud to appreciate its greatness. Low volume does in no way do this justice. And do you know what? That's just fine by me.
Try Threshold - cybotron - the engineer had his work cut out on that day son Peace
Cool review bro, enjoyed it.
Can anyone please tell me why the re-press is sometimes being sold for more than the original? Thanks.
MrKobayashi Can anyone please tell me why the re-press is sometimes being sold for more than the original? Thanks. Remastering + quality of pressing
Better condition?
my wlb version is exacly the same as listed on here only difference is the cat # on my version states - MET 008 , anyone else have this - all the originals & wlbs of " the angels fell " have cat MET 00(8) scratched away and then replaced with MET 006 so they might have forgotten a few at the pressing plant which is the most logical explaition to my version ....
The angels fell... If Carlsberg made drum and bass music, this would be... and probably is, the best drum and bass record ever made! F'ing unbelievable!!!!!!
What a fucking release. All three of the tunes are A+ smashers.
Anyone know if this is at the same speed as the original?
Should be the same speed. Killer record. Strange that it's more expensive than the original copy.
The repress A side plays at 45 RPM, B side at 33 RPM
The Angels Fell and Ja Know Ya Big are two of Dillinjas finest. Remember hearing Dj hype play this in Jan 95. This E.P. was well ahead of its time and I don't think I've ever heard a tune which drops with such ferocity as The Angels Fell. Dillinja was the don back then !!!!
This is one of the loudest records i have ever owned. The levels were really pushed to the limit with Angels Fell.
The sample of "The Angels Fell" is by Rutger Hauer who plays replicant Roy Batty in the movie Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott. The strings on the intro are also sampled from the Blade Runner sound track by Vangelis.

This has to be one of the best early era Dillinja tunes. T h e s e A n g e l s F e l l .................... Rolling bass lines, very sharp snairs, and crisp high hats. Ja Know Ya Big is on the same theme, well sequenced drums, and rolling male vocals "JA KNOW YA BIG BIG BIG". And brutal bass speaks for it's self. Hit that 15Hz with vengance and make those 15's know why they were made!
