Faces is the tenth studio album by the R&B band Earth, Wind & Fire released on October 14, 1980 on ARC/Columbia Records. The album reached number 2 on the Billboard Top LPs chart, number 10 on the Billboard Top Soul albums chart and number 10 on the UK Albums chart. Faces was certified Gold in the US by the RIAA. Faces was partly recorded in the Caribbean island of Montserrat and produced by EWF leader Maurice White. Artists such as Fred Wesley and Toto's Steve Lukather guested on the album.
Earth, Wind & Fire is the self-titled debut studio album by the band Earth, Wind & Fire, released in February 1971 by Warner Bros. The album got to No. 24 on the Billboard Top Soul Albums chart. Off the album the track Love Is Life rose to No. 43 on the Billboard Hot Soul Songs chart.
But Earth, Wind & Fire wouldn't hit their stride until adding singer and percussionist Phillip Bailey, who would prove to be the key ingredient that had been missing in the EWF formula. By the mid '70s, the group had transformed from just another good band to one of R&B's most beloved groups and were in the middle of a historic run that netted them two No. 1 albums and multiple Top 10 hits. By the end of the decade, Earth, Wind & Fire was nothing short of a well-oiled machine that churned out classics at the pace that other bands released songs.

We were really being a self-contained band. It’s easy to hear that sense of integration and self-assurance in Faces. In many ways their first album of the ‘80s encapsulates everything the band learned and accomplished over the course of the ‘70s. During that period, White and his ever-evolvin. ore.
