Abraxas is the second studio album by Latin rock band Santana. It was released on September 23, 1970 by Columbia Records. The title of the album originates from a line in Hermann Hesse's book Demian, quoted on the album's back cover: "We stood before it and began to freeze inside from the exertion.

Because now Happy Meals are not a melodic hardcore band anymore. After the split CD with Abraxas the band reinvented itself and they slowed down the musical speed.

Abraxas is up a windy little road, once inside it is an amazing place with beautiful views. I can imagine it is really wonderful eating out on the terrace in summer, but we were there on a wet April day and had a lovely table inside. We arrived a bit early and were made very welcome by Nando junior. We were offered a rose' prosecco (If I remember rightly, it was an Aglianico) and the food totally lived up to expectations, made with the finest local ingredients.
In the mid-'90s, an album as eclectic as Abraxas would be considered a marketing exec's worst nightmare. But at the dawn of the 1970s, this unorthodox mix of rock, jazz, salsa, and blues proved quite successful. Whether adding rock elements to salsa king Tito Puente's "Oye Como Va," embracing instrumental jazz-rock on "Incident at Neshabur" and "Samba Pa Ti," or tackling moody blues-rock on Fleetwood Mac's "Black Magic Woman," the band keeps things unpredictable yet cohesive
Abraxas has been added to your Cart. Includes Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen; Oye Como Va, and the seven other tracks from the original album. The CD-only bonus tracks are Se a Cabo; Toussaint L'Overture, and Black Magic Woman/Gyspy Queen, recorded live at Royal Albert Hall on April 18, 1970. Santana's 1970 follow-up to their Woodstock-propelled smash '69 debut found leader Carlos Santana further expanding his San Francisco group's already broad musical boundaries.
