My Brightest Diamond - A Thousand Shark's Teeth mp3 album

And with A Thousand Shark’s Teeth, Diamond’s incredible, breathtaking sophomore release, we are all instantly reminded once more of Shara Worden’s undeniable greatness. Charming, playful, daring, foreboding, graceful, eclectic, exciting and visceral: these are all the first words that come to mind after a full listen through A Thousand Shark’s Teeth. It is a record that evokes and challenges, full of the sorts of melodies and arrangements that stay with you long after the album’s stopped playing. After playing in Sufjan Stevens’ band, My Brightest Diamond struck out on her own, releasing Bring Me the Workhorse to widespread praise. These diverse experiences helped shape A Thousand Shark’s Teeth.

A Thousand Shark's Teeth is the second studio album from the American rock group My Brightest Diamond. The eleven-track album was released on vinyl, compact disc, and digital download with Asthmatic Kitty, on 2 June 2008. It was produced and arranged by Worden, and recorded in Los Angeles, California and New York City, and Berlin, Germany, by Husky Höskulds, who also mixed the album. The album took six years to complete, and was originally conceived to be recorded as string quartet pieces

A Thousand Shark’s Teeth is the second My Brightest Diamond record, but work on this album began simultaneously with work on the band’s debut record, Bring Me the Workhorse, released two years earlier.

A Thousand Shark's Teeth. Two years after the world formally met her via her acclaimed debut, Bring Me the Workhorse, Brooklyn, NY’s My Brightest Diamond – spearheaded by Shara Nova – has been established as one of independent music’s most vibrant, creative and original voices. Strangely, despite the album's elaborate scope, at times A Thousand Shark's Teeth is too subtle to make a strong initial impression. However, when the album does connect - usually when the arrangements and melodies are more direct - the results are stunning. From the Top of the World" warms up the mostly frosty sonics and resembles a distant, darker cousin of '60s symphonic pop, a feeling echoed by "To Pluto's Moon," which channels John Barry and Portishead into a goth spy theme.

Originally conceived as an album of string-quartet pieces, Shark's Teeth evolved into something more musically full-bodied. 70. The shimmering showcase for singer/songwriter Shara Worden-frustrates somewhat, retreating from the rocking thrust of her debut.

In an expressively slippery voice, Shara Worden of My Brigjtest Diamond, spins luxurious fantasies that leap in scale from musical boxes to colliding heavenly bodies. Matrix, Runout: WW. ELLWETHERMFG. COM 3XVR1<7205 AKR046PROMO. Mastering SID Code: IFPI L481.

But on A Thousand Shark’s Teeth, her second album, Worden is set to emerge from Stevens’ prodigious shadow and gain a fawning cult of her own. That My Brightest Diamond bears the influence of smart, classically informed pop provocateurs like Björk, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush and the late Jeff Buckley doesn’t make Worden’s project noteworthy; plenty of lesser artists mine similar terrain. On its 2006 debut, Bring Me The Workhorse, My Brightest Diamond went for the jugular, a vocal whoop deployed like a cannon shot on Golden Star and a detuned guitar fizzing and crackling through ominous rocker Freak Out. But A Thousand Shark’s Teeth-having been originally conceived as a strings record-aims more for beauty than attention-grabbing.
