Pandemonium is a 1990 album by The Time. Much like the three previous albums, the album consists of music in the funk-pop or ballad genre, although this album breaks the Time's six-song album tradition. The album is a tie-in with the film Graffiti Bridge and several songs from the album appear in the film. According to biographer Matt Thorne, Prince co-wrote "Donald Trump (Black Version)".
Although the members of The Time were highly capable musicians, typically Prince wrote and recorded most of the band’s music, and then charged them with recreating his sound live, which apparently they did so well that they often upstaged Prince as his opening act. In 1989, Prince was working on a new The Time album tentatively titled Corporate World with only Morris Day on lead vocals. however pushed back and requested that all of the band’s original members be involved in the album.
The 2011 album Condensate album under the Original 7ven moniker was much closer to catching the original groups "The Time" signature sound. Reply See 1 reply Notify me Helpful. Being that this was the first "Time" album to follow the 'pandemonium' surrounding "Purple Rain" ("Ice Cream Castles" came out in 1984 during the "Purple Rain" era) a long six years earlier, there were very high expectations for this album to do well. Problem wasn't a lack of talent -- even Morris Day's 'persona' still worked with the new material -- the problem was too much talent. And the answer turned out to be a definite "yes. Humorous, inventive, and unapologetically funky, Pandemonium is an excellent party album that's every bit as strong as its three predecessors. Leader Morris Day is as amusing and confident as ever, and the distinctive unit still used the influence of George Clinton and mentor Prince to great artistic advantage.
