East Coast - East Coast mp3 album

The East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry was a feud between artists and fans of the East Coast hip hop and West Coast hip hop scenes in the United States, especially from 1994 to 1997. Focal points of the feud were East Coast–based rapper The Notorious . and his New York–based label, Bad Boy Records), and West Coast–based rapper Tupac Shakur (and Dr. Dre’s Los Angeles–based label, Death Row Records, which he was part of), who were both murdered in drive-by shootings. Orlando Anderson (.

East Coast is notable as the debut of two figures who would both enjoy later n’ greater success : Vocalist Gwen Guthrie later became famous for her self-penned 1986 gold-digger anthem Ain’t Nothing Going On But the Rent. After working on some background sessions for Aretha Franklin soon after the East Coast album, she became quite prolific as a songwriter, working with collaborators like Patrick Grant on albums like Sister Sledge’s debut, Circle Of Love in 1975, of which the two composed the majority. Between 1982 and 1990 she released eight solo albums, with 1986’s Good To Go Lover.

Although the sound of East Coast rap wasn't completely uniform, from the mid- to late '80s it tended to gravitate to more aggressive beats and sample collages, and many MCs prided themselves on their technical dexterity in crafting lyrics. In other words, with some exceptions East Coast rap became a music intended more for intense listening than for the dancefloor, helping develop the genre into a respected art form as it grew more elaborate and complex. A's 1989 album Straight Outta Compton served notice that the West Coast had toughened its sound to go along with its already gritty, street-level subject matter; combined with West Coast rap's ability to retain its primary function as party music, this helped make it the dominant force in hip-hop during the '90s.

East Coast hip hop is a regional subgenre of hip hop music that originated in the New York City area during the 1970s. Hip hop is recognized to have originated and evolved first in New York; East Coast hip hop only became a distinct subgenre after artists from other regions of the United States emerged with different styles. In contrast to other styles, East Coast hip hop music has prioritized complex lyrics for attentive listening rather than beats for dancing. Nas's 1994 debut album Illmatic was critically acclaimed.
