Stephen Bishop-Kovacevich. Vero nome: Stephen Bishop-Kovacevich. Profilo: Stephen Kovacevich (b. 1940) is an American pianist and conductor who currently lives in Hampstead Village, London. He was born in California and changed his name to Stephen Bishop (3) when his mother remarried. To avoid confusion with the singer-songwriter and guitarist Stephen Bishop, the pianist started performing as Bishop-Kovacevich in the mid-seventies. Stephen was the third husband of Martha Argerich and in 1975 they had a daughter, film director Stéphanie Argerich (born in Bern, Switzerland).

Stephen Kovacevich - Complete Philips Recordings. Pianist Stephen Kovacevich is known as one of the most prominent Beethoven interpreters among living pianists. His concerto recordings for Philips, including Beethoven, Schumann and Bartók, never fail to astonish even the most demanding piano critics. Decca celebrates his 75th birthday this October by presenting his entire recorded legacy for the Philips Label in a 25CD box set featuring a new essay by former Philips Classics producer David Cairns and original artwork. Capping off the collection is an album of two piano music by Mozart, Debussy, and Bartok (the last of which also includes percussion), where Kovacevich is joined by Martha Argerich. The unanimity of their conception and rapport make these reference performances of these works.
