Jacopo Peri - Euridice mp3 album

He wrote the first work to be called an opera today, Dafne (around 1597), and also the first opera to have survived to the present day, Euridice (1600). Variations: Viewing All Jacopo Peri.

Euridice (also Erudice or Eurydice) is an opera by Jacopo Peri, with additional music by Giulio Caccini. It is the earliest surviving opera, Peri's earlier Dafne being lost. Caccini wrote his own "Euridice" even as he supplied music to Peri's opera, published this version before Peri's was performed, in 1600, and got it staged two years later.

Sample this album Artist (Sample). Peri's 'Euridice' was performed in a salon on the upper floor of the Pitti Palace in 1600, for an audience of about 200 invited guests, in honor of the wedding of Maria dei' Medici to Henri IV of France. Nothing is known about the sorts of instruments played for the dances in the opera or for the basso continuo. Peri - Euridice, Banditelli · Fagotto · Cecchetti · Zambon · Foresti · Bertini · Benvenuti · Zanasi · Ensemble Arpeggio · de Caro is a 1995 Arts Music recording starring Ensemble Arpeggio under the direction of Roberto De Carlo. Howard Mayer Brown has written the music notes. Euridice is considered the first ever opera and as an opera it does not disappoint. Jacopo Peri sets the bar high with accomplished compositions and puts high demands on the singers. Truly a fine recording that should be enjoyed by opera lovers. The libretto by Ottavio Rinuccini is based on books X and XI of Ovid's Metamorphoses which recount the story of the legendary musician Orpheus and his wife Euridice. The opera was first performed in Florence on 6 October 1600 at the Palazzo Pitti with Peri himself singing the title role.

Jacopo Peri: Jacopo Peri, Italian composer noted for his contribution to the development of dramatic vocal style in early Baroque opera. Under the early sponsorship of the Florentine Cristofano Malvezzi, Peri had published by 1583 both an instrumental work and a madrigal. In collaboration with Ottavio Rinuccini and Jacopo Corsi, Peri is best known for composing what was probably the first opera, La Dafne (1598), and also, in collaboration with Rinuccini, the first opera for which complete music still exists, L’Euridice (1600); some of the music used in the first performance of L’Euridice was composed by Peri’s rival.

Jacopo Peri: Le Musiche sopra l'Euridice. Revisione e Note di Valter Carignano, L'Opera Rinata, Torino. Jacopo Peri", in The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, ed. Stanley Sadie. Moving Waves (also known as Focus II) is the second studio album from the Dutch rock band Focus, released in October 1971 on Imperial Records. Following the departure of Martin Dresden and Hans Cleuver in 1970, the band recruited Cyril Havermans on bass and Pierre van der Linden on drums and proceeded to work on new material. The album includes "Hocus Pocus", the group's most successful single, and "Eruption", a 23-minute track based on the opera Euridice by Jacopo Peri. Focus II was released to a mostly positive response.
