The Blues Busters was a vocal duo from Jamaica formed in 1960, consisting of Philip James (9 March 1941-1989) and Lloyd Campbell (31 December 1941-1992). The Blues Busters was the most consistently popular Jamaican male duo of the early 1960s, and among the Jamaican artists who performed at the 1964 New York World's Fair. The Blues Busters are "Having a Party", and "How Sweet It Is". As with many of the duo's own composition, this one tipped a hat to an American hit - Sam Cooke's "Party. And while it's not a cover or version, its inspiration is obvious, even as the pair pen entirely a new melody line and lyrics. And it's sweet indeed, much like love itself, which is the duo's delightful theme. The vocal arrangement is just as tasty, with the Busters' shifting from solo lines to flawless harmony
The Blues Busters, Lloyd Campbell and Phillip James, were one of the earliest Jamaican vocal duos. Their late-'50s start saw them emulating American R&B and, surprisingly, at the dawn of the '60s arriving at the same soulful conclusion as that of their . They were also major contenders in the ska boom with hits like "Behold" and "(If I Had The) Wings of a Dove. While there they recorded their debut album, Behold How Sweet It Is. The Blues Busters were determined to have success in the States, and returned again and again throughout the second half of the '60s to record and perform.
