Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - La Betulia Liberata Part 2 mp3 album
The Liberation of Bethulia ; Azione sacre. Betulia liberata; Betulia Liberata; La Betulia Liberata. Betula Liberata; K 118; KV 118; KV 74c.
Mozart's oratorio Betulia liberata, K. 118 (he called it an "azione sacra"), is one of his d works, and on those grounds alone this attractive performance by L'Orfeo Barockorchester and conductor Michi Gaigg is worthy of notice. Mozart composed it when he was 15 and on the road, probably for a small-scale performance in Padua, and the 27-piece orchestra used here, with natural brasses that don't overwhelm the rest of the group, has the right dimensions. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Part I: Recitative: Popoli di Betulia (Ozia). Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is considered one of the most influential composers of all time. The child prodigy would become the author of some of today’s best loved instrumental works, and a true king of sung drama. La Betulia liberata KV118/74c, the only oratorio he ever produced, was written by a relatively young Wolfgang whose potential is immediately obvious, even in his midteens. La Betulia liberata, rarely performed or recorded, was commissioned by Don Giuseppe Ximenes, Prince of Aragon, in 1771 while Mozart was undertaking a tour of Italy with his father, Leopold.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) was a prolific composer and wrote in many genres. Perhaps his best-admired work is in opera, the piano concerto, sonata, the symphony, the string quartet, and string quintet. Mozart also wrote many pieces for solo piano, other forms of chamber music, masses and other religious music, and numerous dances, divertimentos, and other forms of light entertainment.
Mozart: La Betulia liberata. Includes FREE MP3 version of this album. To my mind, La Betulia Liberata (K 118) has always been a bridge too far. The D Minor Overture aside, who has the wherewithal to withstand over two hours of such music, let alone the recitatives? Not me - or so I thought!
