aches just like a woman But she breaks just like a little girl. Yeah, it was raining from the first And I was dying there of thirst So I came in here And your long-time curse hurts But what’s worse Is this pain in here I can’t stay in here Ain’t it clear that.
Written by: Bob Dylan. Nobody feels any pain Tonight as I stand inside the rain Ev’rybody knows That Baby’s got new clothes But lately I see her ribbons and her bows Have fallen from her curls She takes just like a woman, yes, she does She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does And she aches just like a woman But she breaks. just like a little girl. I just can’t fit Yes, I believe it’s time for us to quit When we meet again Introduced as friends Please don’t let on that you knew me when I was hungry and it was your world Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do You make love just like a woman, yes, you do Then you ache. just like a woman But you break just like a little girl.
Considering how closely the two singers are associated, it's somewhat surprising that Judy Collins never recorded an entire album of Bob Dylan songs before. Who better to interpret this material than someone who often bore witness to its creation? Well, actually, there are a lot of people who could've (and have) done it better. Obviously, the songs themselves are beyond reproach and Collins is an astonishingly talented vocalist. In fact, well into middle age, she is still possessed of a voice as pure and clear as any heard in the history of popular music .
With his creativity peaking, Dylan began entertaining the idea that the album might become a double LP. He left Nashville for some more concert dates and returned in mid-March to finish the record. The songs recorded during the March session were shorter and flowed faster than ever, with Dylan working on a piano in his hotel room and Kooper playing musical director, taking Dylan’s ideas to the session musicians to prep them so that when Dylan finally arrived with the finished song they’d be ready. After some final mixing in Los Angeles later that spring, the album was completed. Its cover photo, taken by Dylan’s friend Jerry Schatzberg on a cold day in New York, showed Dylan, dressed for winter in a suede jacket and checkered scarf. Many took its blurry image to be a drug allusion.

The other thing I love about this album is listening to the progression in Dylan's playing style and vocals. It's amazing to see how his music evolved over the decades. 7 people found this helpful.
